Celebrate Life

Celebrate Life
A teacher I know became discouraged and wanted to give up. But she knew she couldn't do that, so she took a day off and went for a walk along the beach.
Feeling sorry for herself, the teacher began to think about how the children at school weren't respectful and parents didn't back her up. Her own children were becoming increasingly disrespectful, and she and her husband were having trouble.
Suddenly, she heard a little girl's voice say, "Hey, lady! Come over here and play with me!" The teacher tried to ignore the child. But again the little girl called out to her, "Hey, come over here and play with me!" Finally, she walked over to the child and said, "Why aren't you in school?" The girl reached up and pulled off a bandana she had been wearing. She was completely bald.
"I have leukemia," she answered. "My mom says if I don't feel good enough to go to school, sometimes I can take a day off and just celebrate life."
The child's words touched the teacher's heart. She picked up a rock, and the two of them began to play the game of hopscotch. When they'd finished, the teacher took the rock home with her and wrote on it, "Celebrate life." She'd learned a valuable lesson.
Regardless of anything we face, life is truly a gift from God and should be celebrated as such. With the Psalmist, let us say, This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it (Psalm 118:24).
